Rendition Rift: Lifeboat
Rendition:Rift is a 2D interactive media piece exploring player choice of view as a simple means of establishing narrative focus and interacting with storyworld characters. Within the world of Rift the user is seated in a wooden lifeboat opposite two unknown individuals, adrift at sea. The narrative’s backstory is purposefully ambiguous, emphasizing the conditions that press physically and psychologically on their circumstances. Simple interaction gives the user opportunities to interpret the changing states of the storyworld. I coded the piece in AS 3.0. Installed in the Digital Arts Research Center, UC Santa Cruz, as part of the Playable Media Arcade.
